Hero Arts Monthly Hero Kit // August 2017

The August 2017 Hero Arts “My Monthly Hero” Kit is sold out (they go quickly), but I always like showing you what I created with mine so that you can sign up for the monthly kit and receive next month’s if you feel like it’s something you’d use. This month is all about dreamy scenes with the moon, stars, and clouds. It came with a coordinating stamp and die set, a fancy window die cut (which I used for the frame of this card), sequins, shimmer mists, a stencil, and that gorgeous patterned paper you see underneath my card. I created a shaker card with the sequins and kept the scene fairly simple so that the stamp set could really shine.

I used the fancy window die cut to create the frame for the whole card. It has these gorgeous stars, moons, and clouds all over it. I used Distress Oxide Inks in Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade to create the background for the shaker. I stamped the little girl flying with some stardust behind her using black ink. I love the way black ink looks against bright ink colors…it just really pops! I used a piece of acetate and the sequins in the card kit to create the shaker.

I heat embossed the sentiment in gold embossing powder. I love this sentiment from the stamp set! It’s very whimsical and could be sent to someone “just because” or even used as a birthday card for a little girl.

I finished it off with some rhinestones around the sentiment. This kit can be used so many different ways. I’ve seen night sky cards, birthday cards, shaker cards, and spinner cards made from this kit. It’s a versatile stamp and die set that can be used beyond this card kit.

You can sign up for the Hero Arts “My Monthly Hero” Card Kit online here. It’s honestly one of my favorite monthly papercrafting kits ever. I feel like the value of what you’re getting is one of the strongest on the market and they always send you wonderful things.

Wine Pairing: J.Lohr Merlot

This card has “sleepy” tones to it, so I have to go with my all-time favorite “sleepy time” wine: merlot. When I think of merlot, I think of wine that will relax you and make you feel ready to hop into bed. J.Lohr is one of my favorite merlot’s that is affordable and easily accessible to purchase!
