I absolutely adore this set from Hampton Art and Mama Elephant. Not only is it ridiculously cute and versatile (the images could easily work as a birthday card), but it’s inexpensive for those crafters who are on a budget. It contains 8 stamps and 7 dies as a full set and it is under $13, so you just can’t go wrong. I decided to make the little critters look like they were floating up and away in the sky by holding onto the balloons. You could easily swap out the encouraging sentiment for a birthday one and send someone a very colorful birthday card!
I used stitched rectangle dies to cut a rectangle out of some grey cardstock. Instead of using the rectangle itself, I used the piece I cut it out from to create a frame for our card. I used some Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean to create the sky background on my card-front. To create the distressed splotches, I simply spritzed some water onto it and then patted it down with a towel. After attaching the grey frame on top, I went to work on the cute little critters and the balloons.
I stamped, colored, and die cut the images and put them together so it looks like they are being lifted up by the massive balloons. I added some additional balloons and flowers to the bottom of the frame to add some color and interest. I also glued some blue rhinestones to the sky background to add depth to everything.
The sentiment is a smaller cut from my stitched rectangle dies again, and I used the phrase that came with the set. I used a black embossing powder and heat set it. Using Distress Oxide Ink in Salty Ocean again, I created an ombre ink effect over top of the rectangle containing the sentiment. I finished it off with some leftover twine that I had laying around in my crafty scraps.
I like this card because it uses one stamp set total and that stamp set also includes the die cuts needed to cut the images out. Crafting on a budget can be tricky since craft supplies can really add up. Being able to create a beautiful card on a budget is something that never goes out of style!
My Wine Pairing: Summer Water Rosé
I had this wine over the weekend, and it is absolutely vibrant and delicious on the tongue. Rosé is one of my favorite wines and this one has a dry but fruity flavor to it. It’s also very affordable and you’ll undoubtedly enjoy sharing this with a friend!
